WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION? - BODY SURGERY

Liposuction is a special form of surgery that removes unwanted body fats that have collected under the skin. When diets and special exercises refuse to reduce these areas that contain reserves of body fat for many reasons, people can choose to have it removed for aesthetic and personal reasons. Contouring a more perfectly shaped body has become more fashionable in the last 30 years due to the advances of liposuction techniques. Areas that are most commonly troublesome are usually the inner and outer thighs, abdomen, waist, hips and upper arms. But liposuction can also can be done in other areas such as the knees, ankles, double chin and even on the face.

WHICH LIPOSUCTION TECHNIQUES ARE AVAILABLE ? AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LIPOSUCTION? - BODY SURGERY

There are two main types of liposuction that are performed nowadays in most clinics in Hungary (and the world) and both techniques can be equally effective. In many cases both can even be combined in one session to tackle different troublesome areas. The first major type of liposuction is referred to as the suction liposuction techniques, meaning that fat cells are broken up under the skin with a cannula and then suctioned out of the body. The second major type of liposuction is referred to a laser lipolysis or Smart liposuction, meaning that a laser is used to melt down fat quickly into its liquid form which is then drained out of the body through the lymphatic system. Which procedure is used depends very much upon which areas are being treated and your plastic surgeon. Generally speaking, for more fatty tissue areas like the tummy, the suction-liposuction may be preferred as larger amounts can be suctioned away from here, while for areas with only a mild degree of contouring needed – such as the knees or face - Smart liposuction may be preferred method of choice. A good candidate for liposuction is healthy, generally speaking under the age of 40-45 years, has an elastic skin tone and has areas of fatty tissue deposits resistant to diet and exercise.

WILL THE RESULTS BE LONG LASTING? WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS? - BODY SURGERY

The procedure often shows immediate results that can last for several years depending on proper exercise and eating habits. Since the body usually needs to adjust to the loss of fat from a specific area it can take a while to see the final outcome – even up to six months. One added benefit of Smart Liposuction is that there is usually a complimentary skin-tightening effect in the area where the fat was removed. This is due to the heat of the laser coagulating old- and producing new- collagen. Overall, your skin will smoother and have a better tone.

WHICH AREAS CAN BE TREATED BESIDES THE STOMACH? - BODY SURGERY

Areas that respond very well to liposuction are usually the inner and outer thighs, entire upper and lower abdomen, the flanks, around the buttocks, the hips, the upper arms, the chin and jowl area, and the neck. A consultation with the cosmetic surgeon will review which areas can be treated further, as each case is evaluated individually for best results.

CAN LIPOSUCTION BE COMBINED WITH OTHER PROCEDURES? - BODY SURGERY

Liposuction can be performed either alone or in combination with other cosmetic enhancement procedures. It all depends on what you're looking to have done. Common related procedures are breast reduction, face lifts, and tummy tucks.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE SURGERY, WHAT SHOULD I DO TO PREPARE? - BODY SURGERY

In most cases it can take from 1-4 hours to preform the procedure with perhaps an overnight stay in the facilities provided. Though since this is an outpatient process there may be an overnight recommendation. The surgeon usually will consult beforehand about what is required and assesses the patients health before the procedure is done. All areas of safety and outcome or risks are reviewed weeks before the surgery takes place.

HOW LONG IS THE RECOVERY TIME? - BODY SURGERY

Recovery depends on the patient and the amount of fat removed from the body area. There is also the method used that may effect the final time for recovery. Many people can return to work after a few days but usually 2-3 weeks minimum is when most people return to their normal activities including leisure sports or exercises.

WILL MY EATING HABITS RUIN THE SURGERY? - BODY SURGERY

Good eating habits are often recommended after surgery has taken place since the final results can be undone through excessive eating or the lack of a balanced healthy diet. After the surgery though the enhanced look of the patient has an impact on the outlook of a shaplier form and can aid in a better plan for nutrition.

WHAT RISKS ARE INVOLVED? - BODY SURGERY

Though your decision to have liposuction surgery can carry possible risks as any surgery can have, the main risks are explained well before the surgery ever takes place following a consultation and required steps for the procedure. Ideal candidates for lipo may have lower risk complications if they are healthly non-smokers and have no additional health problems that can affect the healing process.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A LIPO SURGERY? - BODY SURGERY

An Anesthesia will be given either by injection or topical as recommended by the surgeon, then a small incisions are made where the areas that are targeted. A sterile liquid solution is infused into the area to control bleeding and then a small tube (called a cannula) is inserted into the fatty area to losen the fat to be sucked out with a vacuum-like tube attached to the cannula. With (Smart Laser Lipo) the laser reduces the fat into a liquid making the process easier and quicker than the traditional methods.
