WHAT ARE CHEEK IMPLANTS? - FACE SURGERY
Often referred to as ‘cheek augmentation,’ this procedure is performed to restore fullness to cheeks and to give weak cheeks a more youthful appearance.
Weak cheeks can make your face appear gaunt and cheek implants can correct this by creating the appearance of strong cheeks as well as restoring fullness.
Cheek augmentation can create a more aesthetically pleasing appearance to those who consider full cheeks as attractive.
IS THIS PROCEDURE SUITABLE FOR ME? - FACE SURGERY
If you were born with weak cheeks or have lost volume in the area due to age then you may want to consider cheek augmentation surgery. You should be aware that there are other injectable filler options available which may also be suitable.
Your suitability for the procedure will be determined by a surgeon’s consultation which will take into account factors such as your medical history and condition.
The consultation with the surgeon will enable you to come to an informed decision.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE? - FACE SURGERY
The location of the incision depends on the areas being addressed. The incision can be placed either through the mouth with a small incision at the gum line, or through a lower eyelid incision.
A pocket is then created for the implant to be inserted and once inserted, the incision is then sutured.
WILL IT LEAVE A SCAR? - FACE SURGERY
If the incision is made through the mouth no visible scarring will be present. For lower eyelid incisions, scars will be present but usually difficult to identify due to the location.
A consultation with your surgeon will determine the exact location of the incision.
