Arriving at Budapest (Ferihegy) Airport

Budapest Airport is located 15 miles SE of Budapest, and has two main terminals. The recently renovated Terminal 1 handles all UK low-cost airlines, Easyjet from London Luton and Gatwick, Wizz Air from London Luton, Jet2.Com from Manchester and Ryanair from Liverpool, and Glasgow (Prestwick). Other European low-cost airlines, such as Germanwings, also use this terminal.

Terminal 2 is divided into two parts, the original Terminal 2A and the newer 2B extension. 2A serves passengers arriving from Schengen zone countries, and 2B non-Schengen countries (excluding all low-cost airlines as listed above). The United Kingdom is not a Schengen country.

Hungary\'s national carrier, Malev, code sharing with British Airways has regular flights from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, and Manchester (via Gatwick) and Glasgow International (via London Gatwick or London Heathrow).

KLM offer flights to Budapest from most regional airports via their Amsterdam hub at Schipol - these include Aberdeen, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Durham Tees, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Humberside, Leeds Bradford, Manchester, Newcastle, Norwich and Southampton.




From the European Union

There are low-cost flights to Budapest available from EU member states:

Air Berlin flies from cities in Germany and Austria, Germanwings from Stuttgart and Cologne, and Easyjet from Berlin and Dortmund.

Wizz Air, Hungary\'s low-cost airline is one of the most competitively priced, and flies from the following European cities:

Barcelona, Brussels (Charleroi), Eindhoven,Gothenburg (City Airport),Madrid, Malmo,Milan (Bergamo), Naples,Oslo (Torp) Paris (Beauvais), Rome (Fiumicino Terminal AA), Stockholm (Skavsta,Tirgu Mure, Venice (Treviso)

 

 

Scheduled European flights

Air France offers daily scheduled flights from Paris CDG - as does Malev and British Airways.

In the Netherlands, KLM– Royal Dutch airlines flies direct from Amsterdam (Schipol)and Maastricht via Schipol. From Rotterdam there is a 50 minute train service to Schipol.

In Germany, Lufthansa flies direct from Frankfurt/Main, Berlin (Tegel) and Munich to Budapest.

From the United States

Direct flights to Budapest from east coast cities such as New York and Atlanta are usually via European cities such as Paris, Frankfurt, and London.

Recommended are MALEV\'s non-stop direct flights between New York MALEV non-stop direct flights from JFK New York, and DELTA AIRLINES who also operate a direct non-stop flight, as well as via Paris CDG (1 stop).


KLM fly from Los Angeles via Amsterdam, and British Airways via London.

 

 


 

From Canada

Air Canada, in conjunction with Lufthansa, operate flights from Toronto to Budapest via Frankfurt (). From Vancouver, Lufthansa flies to Budapest via Frankfurt (1 stop) and Air Canada/Lufthansa via Calgary and Frankfurt (2 stops).



 

From Australia and New Zealand

Flights from Sydney and Melbourne to Budapest usually involve transfers via London Heathrow, Frankfurt or Paris. Connections can be made from other cities also flights to Budapest from Sydney and Melbourne are usually via London and Paris, while those from Perth and Brisbane are two stop affairs via Singapore, Helsinki or London Heathrow.
