Risks and Complications of Plastic Surgery

How Safe is Plastic Surgery?
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), you'll be relieved to know that overall the general rate of serious complication associated with plastic surgery is very low.  A survery done in 1997 in which more than 400,000 operations were evaluated determined that only less than half of 1 percent of those operations were associated with serious complication.  Furthermore, the mortality rate was also found to be extremely low or only one in 57,000 cases.

How can I reduce my risk for complication ?
When you initiially inquire with Meditours Hungary, you will be asked to provide us with information about your present and past health status, a detailed description of the type of treatment you are looking for and clear photos or Xrays of the areas on your body you would like to have treated.  When you provide us with this information, you are helping us make an evaluation of your overall suitability to undergo any type of anesthesia and the treatment you are looking for.
The information is held strictly in confidence and will be passed over to the treating Meditours' medical professsionals only.  It's important that all information disclosed is accurate.  This decreases the chances for complication.

Should I have a health check-up at home with my GP before I travel?
Since your home doctor is the one who knows your medical history the best, it is always a good idea to consult with your physician and let them know you will be travelling abroad for surgery.  Your doctor will advise you about your overall physical status including your blood pressure, bleeding tendencies, skin or other infections, hormonal disturbances, contraindicated medications for surgery/anesthesia and other acute or chronic illnesses that you need to be aware of before surgery.  All this information should be brought with you and told to us before you travel and again to your treating doctor/anesthesiologist at the time of your consultation.
