FAQs

What is a Silhouette Lift?

The Silhouette Lift is a new technique developed with the use of Silhouette Sutures, a new suspension thread made out of made from polypropylene, a material that is biologically compatible with the human body. It’s been used for many years in cardiovascular and ophthalmic surgery. The sutures are inserted at the temporal areas (hairline) and guided, beneath the skin, via a straight needle all the way through the desired exit area in the lower face. The sutures are then pulled backwards from the temporal area until the cones engage, resulting in a higher, fixed suspension of the face. (See video)

What reassurance do I have with the Silhouette Sutures?

Silhouette Sutures have been approved by the US FDA and have received the CE mark. Already more than 1500 patients have chosen the Silhouette Lift around the world and our Meditours Certified plastic surgeons have been trained to use the Silhouette Lift technique.

Am I a good candidate for the Silhouette Lift?

If you are between the ages of 38/40, otherwise healthy and experiencing the first signs of your face sagging with the associated loss of the oval in your face, you are a good candidate for the Silhouette Lift.

How long do I need to stay in Budapest?

The Silhouette Lift is a minimally invasive procedure performed in less than 2 hours and requiring only a local anaesthetic. Down-time is also minimum with quick recovery so you can leave the clinic immediately after the procedure. We recommend that you stay for a minimum of 3 days rest time before you return home.

How long do the results last?

According to the latest information available, the predicted results for the Silhouette Lift is about 4 years. Like any other plastic surgery intervention, the natural aging process continues on and results can vary from individual to individual.

How long is the procedure and does it hurt?

Having a Silhouette Lift means you're having a minimally invasive procedure that's carried out under a local anaesthetic. The face area takes about 45 minutes to complete and the neck area about 25 minutes.

The procedure is relatively painless. A mild degree of discomfort may be experienced while and after the lift is being performed. Afterwards, there may be a slight redness, swelling, and/or bruising around the face and neck areas, which will normally dissipate within the first 24 hours. If there is any discomfort or pain following the procedures, a non-prescriptive painkiller such as aspirin or paracetamol can be taken for relief.

How long is the recovery time?

Compared to a having a traditional face lift, the Silhouette Lift recovery time is much faster. You can return to your normal life activities in 2 days and all marks resulting from the procedure should disappear within approximately 10 days.

So, again, what are the benefits of the Silhouette Lift?

  • No cutting of the facial tissues

  • Lifts sagging cheeks and sagging jowls

  • Softens smile lines from the nostrils to the mouth corners

  • Corrects down-turned mouth corners

  • No visible scars around the ears

  • Clear, absorbable hollow cones allow for more tissue growth and long-lasting suspension and anchoring than barbs

  • Secure, stronger suspension because there are no cuts in the suture to weaken suture strength

  • Suture shape is perfectly round, no sharp barbs

  • 3-0 Suture allows for smaller knot tying

Can the Silhouette Lift be combined with any other facial rejuvenation treatments while I'm in Budapest?

Yes, the procedure can be combined with other facial rejuvenation treatments such as laser or fractional laser skin resurfacing to enhance the anti-aging effects.
